NO (in capital letters) I dont shoot weddings... HOWEVER when my friend from California called a few months back and said she was asked to do a wedding nearby me at a farm that I've often shot at - and asked me if I'd help her out..what was I going to say - NO??? I mean - how was I going to say no to a friend coming allllllll the way from CA to do a wedding, stay with me, shoot at a gorgeous farm all by herself with a gorgeous couple ALL BY HERSELF??? NO! of course I said I'd be her 2nd shooter!!
I really think its good for all photographers to experience all the aspects of photography. Dont limit yourself to what is comfortable to you. If you shoot in the studio - go do a natural light session every once in a while or visa versa. If you never done a maternity session - try one (maybe try a friend first though!). It will only help you grow as a photographer. You dont have to continue them..but you have learned something from it. I learned to shoot at very high ISO's (MY NIKON D200 ROCKED!!!), learned to shoot in blazing sun coming right at you (NO CHOICE!), how to capture" emotion" and "feeling" and "detail" (or at least I tried to..).... It was great to be the 2nd shooter with Deb. I think we made a great team.
Anyway.. here are a just afew of my shots.
This was shot from outside looking in between 2 slats of barn wood...
The pic of the cake in the barn - amazing! What beautiful shots!

I recently second shot at a wedding and learned so much. I really enjoy the second shooting and allowing the creativity to shine through. Nice job, especially like #1.

Good for you for getting out of your comfort zone! I've got to do that - thanks for the reminder! And I don't think it's just your D200 that rocks - it's YOU that ROCKS. Great job Kathy - these are gorgeous!

Kathy- I think that first shot is the MOST BEAUTIFUL wedding photograph I have ever seen. Don't let too many brides-to-be get a look at these...they'll be stalking you! And since I already have you booked for Tess's senior pictures (she just turned 20 months) we may as well set her up for her wedding, while we're at it! You're truly amazing.
